Bahamas in second at CCCAN Swimming Championships

Team Bahamas turned in a number of strong performances over the weekend, which led to multiple medals and Youth Olympic Games qualifiers as the CCCAN Swimming Championships continued in Aruba.

The Bahamas is currently second with 155.5 points, closely trailing Trinidad and Tobago with 161 points. Columbia is third with 137, Honduras is fourth with 104, and Panama rounds out the top five with 100.50.

Action continues today and runs through July 3.

On Saturday, Nigel Forbes scored a gold medal in the 11-12 boys 100-metre (m) breaststroke in 2:36.00. Devante Carey qualified in the 15-17 boys 50m backstroke, winning in 26.84 seconds, Lamar Taylor also qualified in the 13-14 boys 50m, picking up gold in 27.66 seconds.

Taylor and Forbes also picked up gold medals in the 100 butterfly. Taylor won the 15-17 boys event in 59.45 seconds, while Forbes took the 13-14 event in 1:01.95.

Ariel Weech was third in the women’s 18 & over 50m backstroke in 30.69 seconds and Victoria Russell was second in the 15-17 girls 200m breaststroke in 2:42.
