Bahamas Bowl youth clinic set for next Wednesday
The Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl kicks off on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.

NASSAU, BAHAMAS- One of the highly anticipated events of the 2019 Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl week is set for Wednesday, December 18 as the 5th Annual Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl Youth Football Clinic, sponsored by KFC, will take place from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the rugby fields next to the original Thomas A. Robinson Track and Field Stadium. The clinic is free of charge and open to boys and girls, ages 7-13. It will be held in conjunction with the Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl and USA Football.

Steve Specht, head varsity football coach at St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, will lead the teaching staff for USA Football. Specht will work with student-athletes and staff from the Buffalo and Charlotte football teams along with representatives of the Commonwealth American Football League (CAFL), teaching football fundamentals and safety techniques. Last year’s clinic was a success as student-athletes gave back to the youth of The Bahamas using football and fun to interact with participants involved in the event, showing what exercise and hard work can attain.

The 2019 Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl is set with the University at Buffalo Bulls taking on the University of North Carolina at Charlotte 49ers at the new Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium on Friday, December 20 at 2 p.m.

As for Specht’s St. Xavier Bombers team, it finished with a 9-3 win-loss record this season, and they reached the regional semifinals of the Ohio state playoffs. Specht has been the Bombers’ head coach since 2004, winning three Ohio state titles. He coached National Football League (NFL) All-Pro linebacker Luke Kuechly during his time at St. Xavier.

Registration for the clinic will take place from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18 and the clinic will follow. Each registered participant will receive a 2019 Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl T-shirt and tickets to the 2019 game. Each participant must submit a completed event waiver prior to participation. Waivers can be completed during the one-hour registration period.
