Bahamas Boxing Federation (BBF) President, Vincent Strachan.

Bahamas Amateur Boxing Federation (BABF) president Vincent Strachan, at a recent press conference said, that even though his main focus over the next few months is centred on revamping the amateur ranks, he also wants to help out local professional boxers as well.

Strachan recently added several professional fights to an upcoming amateur boxing card set for October 26 at the Kendal Isaacs Gymnasium.

Along with Chris Joy, founder of I Fight Promotions, out of Jamaica, Strachan says he’s working to provide more opportunities for local fighters to fight at home, opposed to having to travel to fight.

“This new wave of ideas will hopefully help to bring boxing back to the forefront,” Strachan said.

“We want to do what we can to put our boxing on n better positions. Our amateurs, and by extension, our pros.”

Joy added: “My job is to get fighters to remain at home, which helps them with training costs, travel and other expenses involved with fighting on the road. This is a step in the right direction, in regards to allowing boxers to compete at home.”
