BAAA ratifies 2019 CARIFTA team

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations (BAAA) ratified the team that will represent The Bahamas this month in the Cayman Islands at the 2019 CARIFTA Track and Field Championships.

BAAA president Drumeco Archer said he was surprised by the number of athletes that qualified for the championships ahead of this weekend’s CARIFTA trials.

“For the first time I think we had the good fortune of having of having over 40 athletes qualify at various meets throughout the season,” Archer said. “We are proud that we had so many athletes from the Family Islands involved in the trial process.

“The BAAA continues to deliver its mandate to provide more direct access to our sport throughout the Family Islands, and we are particularly pleased to witness sensational performances from athletes outside of New Providence.”

The 2019 CARIFTA Games will be held April 20-22 at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands.
