$4 million to upgrade Parliamentary Registrar Department

Minister of National Security, Marvin Dames, told Eyewitness News on Thursday that the Government has set aside $4 million dollars in its budget to upgrade the Parliamentary Registrar Department.

He said the country is in “the dark age” when it comes to technology and they are looking to change this by computerizing the Registrar.

“I have been in a number of meetings with the parliamentary registrar to map out the future for that department,” said the National Security Minister, who added that there are a number of things that the government is currently examining as it relates to the Registrar Department.

“One is certainly the upgrades in respect to voters’ registration and moving ahead from a technological standpoint.”

Dames said that this upgrade is badly needed and he believes that the public will be pleased to see the direction in which the government is headed in relation to upgrading this area.
