4 cashiers charged in $500K stealing ring

Five-hundred thousand dollars is how much court dockets allege four cashiers made off with from their employer – Battery & Tyre Specialists, in what police said appeared to be a stealing ring, that subsequently led to their arrest and charges.

Prosecutors allege the stealing happened incrementally over a two-year period dating back to April 2016.

Charged with in the 40 counts of stealing are Alice Murphy, 59, Anthonique Bowleg, 27, Shalesha Bannister, 27, and Bradisha Bullard, 23.

The women allegedly made good on their theft through the input of false entries in the company’s point of sale (POS) system.

Murphy, the dockets said, stole through false entries $33,208.13 cash, while Bowleg stole through the same method $111,498.49.

Prosecutors said, the 27-year-old used the stolen money to purchase Michael Kors watches, Ray Ban Sunglasses, a Gucci backpack and luggage bag, and a 42” flat screen television.

Meantime, the court heard how 27-year-old Bannister stole $182,372.43 that went to purchase of

a 65” and 55” Samsung televisions, a David Yurman ring, bracelet, and two bangles, two Citizen watches, two Michael Kors watches, one Guess watch and a Pandora Bracelet.

Bullard, the youngest member of the group, was the last charged with the theft of $168,246.46.

The women all pleaded not guilty to all counts and will await trial at the Bahamas Department of Corrections until June 7, 2018.
