Three men were arraigned in the Magistrates Court on Tuesday charged with multiple attempted murder, armed robbery and attempted armed robbery charges dating back to April of this year.
Alvin Morley, 19, Javis Smith, 19, and 20-year-old Dion Jyles Jr appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt.
Morley was charged with the attempted murder of Roobens Elusme on Saturday, October 6. He was not required to enter a plea to the charges. Morley, who was visibly injured, pulled down his pants in court and told the Magistrate he was beaten with a cutlass on his buttocks by police while in the Central Detective Unit. Ferguson Pratt ordered that Morley be remanded to The Bahamas Department of Corrections (BDOC), but only after he is seen by a doctor at the Princess Margaret Hospital.
Morely was additionally charged with the armed robbery of Alton Bain on September 7. It is alleged that he stole a Nissan Note and $4,500 cash from Bain.
All three men were charged with the armed robbery of Brittany Bethel. It is alleged that the men stole a 2008 Nissan Passo, a cell phone, a passport and other personal items from Bethel. Smith, also told the court he was beaten and was ordered to be seen by a doctor.
They were also charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery and the attempted armed robbery of Pizza Hut Prince Charles on September 17 and 18. They will return to court on January 22 of 2019.
Morely and Jiles were also charged with two counts of possession of ammunition, they pleaded not guilty to the charges, and will return to court on February 15.
They were also charged with two counts of armed robbery on the 14 and 29 of October.
Giles was separately charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, and two counts of attempted armed robbery concerning the October 29 shooting of Basil Evans and the shooting of Courtney Gail on May 31.
Giles was also charged with five other counts of armed robbery including stealing a 9 mm gun from a police officer.
He was not required to enter a plea to the charges and was remanded to the BDOC.
