2 men, 1 woman caught smuggling suspected cocaine

Two men and a woman are in police custody after they allegedly attempted to smuggle just over seven-and-a-half pounds of suspected cocaine into Florida.

According to reports, shortly after 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) officers were called to the United States (US) Pre-clearance Departure Lounge at the Grand Bahama International Airport (GBIA), where three plastic packages that contained suspected cocaine was discovered in one of the suspect’s carry-on bags.

Additional investigation resulted in the arrest of the other man and woman in question.

The suspected cocaine, police said, has a street value of $45,000.

Man shot, hospitalized 

In other crime news, police are investigating a shooting in Grand Bahama which has left a man hospitalized.

According to police, shortly after 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, a man had just arrived at his residence, when two armed men approached him.

A scuffle, police said, occurred between the aggressors and the victim that resulted in the victim being shot several times about the body.

According to police, the suspects fled the scene on foot and the victim was transported to the Rand Memorial Hospital (RMH) by emergency medical services (EMS) personnel and is listed in stable condition.
